5 Reasons to Hire a Wedding Planner

Investing in a wedding planner is the smartest decision you will make when planning your wedding

Did you know that only 19% of brides hire a wedding planner? That number really is shocking to us. When asked about their wedding and what they would have done differently most newlyweds say “I wish I would have hired a wedding planner.” We encourage every bride to use a wedding planner-even if it isn’t us! Your family and friends will thank you!

A wedding is a lot like a limo. It’s luxurious. It’s fun. You usually only have it for a day. And it’s expensive. Most importantly you wouldn’t get a limo and drive it yourself, right?! Where is the fun in that! A wedding is a huge investment! Why spend all that money on your flowers, cake, decorations, catering, ect… and then be responsible for the organization of it all the day and ensuring your vendors have arrived. Having a professional “limo driver” aka: Wedding Planner, is one of the smartest wedding decisions you could make. Here are 5 reasons we believe investing in a wedding planner is the best way to ensure your wedding day is worry free.

For most brides, a wedding planner is an afterthought. It is one more vendor to pay for as the long list of expenses for your wedding keep adding up. We strongly feel that a planner is the first vendor that you should hire. Your planner is an expert for all things wedding! They work closely with vendors they trust and assist with connecting you with the BEST of the BEST in the industry and help to keep within your budget. You can trust them to use their expertise and ensure you get the best quality for your money. The venue is usually the first thing a couple looks for. Without a wedding planner that can be problematic for several reasons. As a couple you may not know the right questions to ask the venue to determine if it is a good fit for your budget. Sometimes a great deal on a venue turns out to cost you more money in the long run because of all the needs or items that are not included in the venues package.

An on-site coordinator is not synonymous with wedding planner. They are usually the manager for the facility. They ensure that their staff is doing their job and everything is moving in a timely manner. A wedding planner ensures a mutual coordination between all the moving parts involved including getting the bride a non-fat iced coffee-STAT! They are in communication with all the vendors involved that day. They have provided a timeline for everyone and call when a vendor has not shown up yet to make sure that they are on their way and just running a little late. They trouble shoot if heaven forbid something should happen to the cake in transit. Leaving a wedding planner in charge of those details will allow you can truly enjoy the day.

Planning my wedding was easy and stress free“- said no bride ever! Emotions are high and a wedding planner is a neutral individual that you can defer too when tensions rise between your MIL, Mom, or Maid of Honor. You never look like the “bad guy.” A wedding planner ensures you still like your family and friends-and they still like you-after the festivities have ended!

You can rest knowing that a professional planner is taking care of every detail. There is no need to spend night after night on Pinterest or searching the web for the best deal when you have a wedding planner! For most brides the idea of planning their wedding on their own sounds fun at first, but by the tail end, Vegas starts looking like a pretty good option!

You are not a miracle worker! That’s a job for your wedding planner. She ensures you are in the moment on the day you say your vows. She safeguards you from bridal remorse and from spending the day worrying about the napkin placements. The only thing on your “Wedding Day To Do List” should be having a glass of champagne and slipping into that beautiful dress! If your wedding planner is doing her job right, you and your groom can soak in every moment of this beautiful day as you start your journey together as husband and wife! So enjoy! Your Wedding Planner’s got this!

Happy Planning! XOXO

One of our favorite moments during the reception is the father daughter dance.  The traditional father daughter dance is the perfect moment to capture your unique relationship with each other in a song. Music often says the words that we can’t. It can bring a crowd to tears and put a smile on everyone’s face all at the same time! For me, it was a bittersweet moment.

I carried a picture of my dad with me in my bouquet as I walked down the isle.

My dad was very talented. He was a singer/songwriter and I was blessed to inherit his talent for singing. We even recorded the song “Unforgettable” together. Sadly, like so many other brides, I lost my dad long before I walked down the isle. My mom re-married an incredible man and I was so blessed to have him walk me down the isle. When it came time for the father-daughter dance, I chose to play that same recording of me and my dad singing “Unforgettable” together while I dance with my stepdad. I will never forget that moment.

Hello Lovelies,

With Mothers Day right around the corner, we were thinking about our own mothers and ways that we honored them and made them feel special at our own weddings. While the focus is definitely on the bride and groom, it is important to remember that this is a big day for mom too. Her little girl is getting married!

Here are 9 unique ways to make your mom feel honored and included on your wedding day…

  1. Have your DJ play her favorite song during the reception. If it’s a fast song and you realize in all the commotion and excitement that it’s playing grab her and take her to the dance floor.

  1. Schedule some mother-daughter time over a champagne brunch or a wine tasting where you can ask her about her favorite memories of her wedding day or if she has any words of wisdom on marriage.
  1. Include a reading of her favorite bible verse in the ceremony.
  1. Put a piece of her wedding gown or veil into a charm and wrap it around your bouquet.

  1. Help her pick out her dress. It will take the stress out of finding the perfect dress knowing you are alongside her.
  1. Have your photographer capture a generational photo of you, your mom, and grandmother. Another fun shot could include a picture of all your wedding rings.
  1. Include a favorite family recipe to add to the dessert bar or a wedding favor for your guests.
  1. You give your dad a kiss when he hands you over to your groom, why not give your mom a stem of her favorite flower.
  1. Take some time to write your mom a thoughtful letter about how much you love and appreciate her. Tell her how grateful you are for her guidance through the years. If it’s from the heart, she will treasure it forever.

Hello Lovelies,

We are glad you’re here! Currently living off prayers and coffee, our new website has officially launched for all to see. And we could not be more excited!!!

It has been a long process, but it really made us look in depth into who we are as a company and why we do what we do. It almost felt like therapy or made us want to go into therapy. Haha… We joke, but in reality it was the best decision we ever made for our business. Our love for beautiful event design and planning is showcased elegantly and it’s something we are very proud of. We are so excited for this new chapter in our lives!

Here’s how it all began….

We were two twenty-somethings that first met while working together in the hospitality industry. It was there that we realized we were in fact “kindred spirits”. One day, while gabbing away over coffee, a mutual friend suggested that we combine our talents for planning events. After many late night discussions we decided to take the plunge and went to work on a name that would express our love for the arts and a creative flare for styling elegant and unique concepts. In 2010 Novelty Events was born and we have never looked back! After all, work isn’t work when you love what you do and do what you love! With unconditional love and support from our hubbies, family and friends, we are thrilled to be where we are today. We feel very blessed.

And… we L.O.V.E weddings! We each planned our own weddings years ago long before the age of Instagram and Pinterest. We know all too well that you can get caught up in hours of scrolling. One picture leads to another…and another… and before you know it, hours have passed by. It can be overwhelming to some, but to us it’s a fun and exciting process! It is our hearts desire for every couple to be completely “in the moment” on their wedding day, knowing that every detail has been attended to. We aim to exceed your expectations and provide a stress free environment where you can enjoy the engagement and every moment after leading up to the wedding day. We get the pleasure of being a part of a couple’s next chapter in life as husband and wife. Wow! What a privilege!

We hope to bring inspiration to you for your own wedding day. We will share our knowledge and know-how with you and keep you moving in a positive and fun direction for your big day! Thank you to all of our past clients for trusting us with your own wedding. It was our pleasure to serve you and bring joy to your hearts!

Thank you for visiting us today!
